Course Description:

HUMAN RESOURCES & ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS: Do you ever find yourself ignoring certain tasks? Do you tend to put things off until 'later' or feel like it takes forever to get through certain assignments? If this sounds familiar, then this session is for you. We will take a guilt-free look at what contributes to procrastination and then present strategies for overcoming procrastination while increasing your efficiency at work. Learn to recognize the signs of procrastination, common reasons why we do it, and what we can do about it. This course is taught by an HR Employee Assistance Program instructor.

  • Understanding how and why we procrastinate
    • Focusing on mental tactics used
    • Learning and discussing the pros and cons of procrastination
    • Focusing on the cycle of procrastination and where participants tend to get 'stuck'
  • Learning, reviewing, and practicing procrastination techniques
    • Introducing and reviewing SMART method of goal setting
    • Introducing and reviewing segmenting tasks technique
    • Introducing and reviewing 21 Day Success Card technique
    • Introducing and reviewing Brainstorming technique
  • Defining efficiency
    • Evaluating similarities and differences between efficiency and procrastination
    • Identifying how efficiency and procrastination can work together and against each other
  • Reviewing techniques used to increase efficiency
    • Review mental tactics
    • Focusing on interruptions
    • Learning about and reviewing the 'unscheduled technique'
