Course Description:

HUMAN RESOURCES & ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS: This workshop provides participants with information on the signs and symptoms of substance use and abuse. The course also addresses the University's policy and rules regarding substance use and abuse and how to respond to troubled employees. This workshop is taught by an HR Employee Assistance Program instructor.

  • Learning about alcohol and drugs and the workplace
    • Reviewing statistics related to use and abuse in the workplace
    • Reviewing signs and symptoms of use and abuse
    • Discussing the disease model of drug abuse
  • Reviewing Texas A&M Policies and Procedures
    • Reviewing the Reasonable Suspicion Testing Policy
    • Reviewing testing requirements and implications
  • Reviewing and discussing testing guidelines and procedures
    • How to initiate a test and what to say
    • What are the legalities?
    • Reviewing written guidelines approved by the system
