Course Description:

HUMAN RESOURCES & ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS: This course is designed for employees who have a role in creating and/or maintaining Texas A&M University websites and/or web content (e.g., web designers, web developers, and content contributors).  Learn what steps you can take to make your website more accessible to users with disabilities. This includes common design considerations, as well as specific markup that will benefit assistive technology users. Lessons will focus on discussing common barriers, hands-on demonstrations with assistive technologies, and strategies to maximize accessibility. This course is taught by a Texas A&M Information Technology instructor.

Prerequisites

  • Windows or Mac experience
  • Web Accessibility – Essentials (strongly recommended)
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS

  • Designing for accessibility
  • Making images accessible
  • Understanding accessibility issues with audio and video content
  • Structuring page content for maximum accessibility
  • Creating accessible site navigation
  • Building accessible tables
  • Making forms accessible
  • Understanding accessibility issues with common document formats
