Course Description:

EMPLOYEE & ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: This course is designed for employees who have any role related to Texas A&M University websites and/or web content (e.g., administrators, managers, web designers, web developers, content contributors).  Learn the key concepts of web accessibility, get an overview of the required web accessibility standards at Texas A&M, and discover practical “next steps” to make your websites more accessible. You’ll also get hands-on experience with some common assistive technologies, to better understand how people with disabilities use the web. This course is taught by a Texas A&M Information Technology instructor.

Prerequisites

  • Windows or Mac experience
 

Course Outline

  • What is web accessibility, and why is it important?
  • Using assistive technology to access web content (hands-on demonstration)
  • Understanding web accessibility standards and the most common accessibility issues at Texas A&M
  • Creating accessible web content and next steps
