Course Description:

EMPLOYEE & ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: The global reach of Texas A&M provides opportunities for frequent contact with people from multiple cultures.  While having a diverse workforce offers numerous advantages, cultural differences can contribute to misunderstandings, conflict and discord. An understanding of one’s own culture and that of others allows people to work together more effectively.  This course provides a fundamental framework that helps to recognize the factors and influences of culture on communication and identify skills to improve intercultural communication.  Participants gain insights into the value of effectively communicating with people from diverse cultures and learn strategies for resolving differences for better relationships and increased productivity at work.

  • None

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define intercultural communication
  • Identify the elements that impact intercultural communication
  • Recognize the stumbling blocks
  • Utilize tools and strategies to effectively communicate with other cultures
