Course Description:

HUMAN RESOURCES & ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS: This workshop examines the nature of interpersonal conflict in the workplace and provides effective strategies for reducing or coping with interpersonal conflict. This workshop also includes administration of the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) to identify personal conflict styles and review how conflict style influences resolution. This course is taught by an HR Employee Assistance Program instructor.

Course Outline

  • Understanding the nature of conflict in the workplace
    • Defining conflict
    • Reviewing participant’s examples of conflict and resolution
    • Examining the costs and benefits of addressing conflict
  • Reviewing participant’s conflict response style
    • Using the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument
    • Reviewing the types of responses and when each is most effective
    • Reviewing/discussing how response style affects outcome and process of conflict management
  • Learning strategies to address or cope with conflict in the workplace
    • Reviewing strategies to address or cope with conflict in the workplace
    • Learning/practicing how and when to intervene
    • Reviewing techniques related to participant’s examples of conflict

Miscellaneous Fee

  • This $20 fee covers the cost of the "Thomas Kilmann Instrument" (TKI) assessment tool.
